Pep Guardiola says what Manchester City will need to beat Newcastle United on Saturday night
Pep Guardiola and Eddie Howe are set to face off for the fifth time this season when Manchester City come to St James' Park to take on Newcastle United in the FA Cup on Saturday night.
The Magpies are 3-1 down in the battle this season as Man City managed one win in the Premier League and two wins in the Carabao Cup semi-final, but Newcastle have beaten City at St James' Park already.
During his media duties for the Carabao Cup semi-final, Eddie Howe spoke about how every game against Man City is an opportunity to learn a bit more about them.
At this point, we should be as well-versed on Man City as we are on our own tactics.
Pep Guardiola says luck will play a huge part in Saturday's game
Indeed, that's the position Pep Guardiola has taken in his press conference on Friday, saying that the two teams are so familiar with one another now that the result is more down to luck.
"We know each other quite well, no surprises. t's not the first time this season.
"How many times we have played Newcastle and Eddie Howe? A lot.
"But it's the same for them. It is what it is. When the margins are so tight the luck is important."
Can we please not rely on luck? We don't have any!
We hope we aren't having to rely on luck on Saturday, as that has certainly not been with us for much of this season, especially when it comes to referees' decisions.
Let's hope that Eddie Howe has the perfect game plan to beat Man City outright, and we can leave the luck off to the side; otherwise, we'll end up with all kinds of madness to sift through after the game.
VAR returns to the FA Cup in this round, so we shouldn't get the same level of luck as we did against Aston Villa, but Wednesday night proved that even with VAR in play, we can still get the poopy end of the stick.
