Newcastle United ended Michael Carrick's unbeaten run as Manchester United manager with a well-earned win at St James' Park last night.

One of the game's biggest talking points was obviously the ridiculous sending off for Jacob Ramsey, which threatened to ruin what had been a very entertaining game until that point.

Thankfully, rather than ruining the spectacle, it seemed to create even more urgency, and it was Newcastle who responded the best.

An Anthony Gordon penalty moments later gave Newcastle the lead, but that was quickly wiped out via a Casemiro header deep, deep into stoppage time in the first half.

Danny Murphy claims that Will Osula won't have slept after his goal last night

We had to wait until the 90th minute for the next goal in the game, but boy, was it worth it. Will Osula picked up the ball in his own half, laid it off to Kieran Trippier, who pinged it down the line for the pacey forward to run on to. He managed to keep the ball in play, stayed on his feet after a stumble and then bamboozled the Man United defence before unleashing a sumptuous curling shot into the far post.

Speaking about it on Match of the Day last night, Danny Murphy said he was 'gobsmacked' that he managed to apply that finish.

"This, to get a winner from Osula, who hasn't had many minutes, he's a young lad, but he's got some talent as we can see. Nearly loses his footing but gains his composure, and when he comes outside here, we were gobsmacked that he's managed to whip it in from there. It's a wonderful goal, and he's not going to sleep tonight, by the way. Honestly, when you score goals like that in the last minute of games, you don't sleep very well."

Take a bow, young Will

In the context of what it meant, the skill involved and indeed who the scorer was, that has to be up there with the best goals of Newcastle's season so far, and it is going to take some beating.

Will Osula also became the first ever substitute to score a 90th-minute winner against Manchester United, something that used to be a trademark of Man United. We wonder how that medicine tastes.

We all know how sweet that victory tasted last night. And it wasn't just Osula who couldn't sleep last night, and I'm sure I wasn't the only one up til the wee hours watching replays and soaking up all the post-match fever.
