'Wait and see': Eddie Howe drops major Tino Livramento hint ahead of FA Cup meeting with Manchester City
Eddie Howe has been quite positive about Tino Livramento's recovery from his latest injury setback of late.
Tino Livramento was one of Newcastle United's better players this season before a thigh injury took him out of contention back in January.
Veteran full-back Kieran Trippier has stepped up to fill the void, but there was no doubt that Newcastle were at their best with Livramento on the right and Lewis Hall on the left.
Eddie Howe hinted on Tuesday, ahead of Newcastle's meeting with Manchester United, that Livramento was recovering well and was close to a return.
Tino Livramento could be back in the squad tomorrow
Speaking to the media again this morning, Eddie Howe was asked if Livramento would be available tomorrow when Newcastle take on Manchester City.
"Tino [Livramento] is getting there, let’s wait and see. He hasn’t trained with us yet, but he has done a lot of work. He has a lot of work behind him, but it is just that training time with us."
We expect that means we could see Tino's name on the teamsheet tomorrow, albeit likely amongst the substitutes.
Eddie Howe gave an update of sorts on Tino Livramento's contract talks
Howe was also asked if talks had reopened regarding a new contract for Livramento, given the endless speculation about a move to Manchester City in the summer.
Ross Wilson made a point of mentioning that a new contract for Livramento would be a priority when he joined the club, but talks were put on hold until the end of the season, and that seems to be how they remain.
Eddie Howe gave a simple two-word response when asked about the current situation: "No update".
