Newcastle United are heading to Wembley for the Carabao Cup Final on March 16th but as things stand we don't know who we will be facing.

As this article goes live on our site, the game at Anfield, which sees Liverpool host Tottenham Hotspur will just have kicked off.

Tottenham bring a slender 1-0 lead with them to Anfield, but the contrast in form between the two sides is massive and even with the advantage, Spurs have a lot of hard work ahead of them.

Liverpool may be more concerned about their league position with the Premier League title a higher priority, but Arne Slot isn't going to get his side to a semi-final and not have them go for it.

Who will Newcastle be facing at Wembley?

Newcastle fans will be watching with interest

As Newcastle fans we will have a vested interest in the outcome of this match, and I'm not speaking out of turn when I say that the majority, if not all of us, will be hoping for a Spurs win tonight, yes?

Wembley isn't a friend of Newcastle United at the best of times, but the last thing we need is to be going up against our ultimate bogey team, Liverpool to make it even harder.

We have a pretty good record against Tottenham, and while there have been slip-ups, it's nothing like the perpetual misery we experience when we come up against Liverpool Reds.

Let it be Spurs

We thought we had Arne Slot's team beaten in the League earlier this season only for them to come back and the game end 3-3. Our hope that it was a Jurgen Klopp curse were dashed.

Every streak has to come to an end, though, and we've been ending streaks for fun this season, so if it is Liverpool, then I'm sure as heck fire not writing us off.

Wembley is a neutral ground. We have no recent record against Liverpool at Wembley. It's all new. We can do it!

But please, let it be Spurs.
