Tottenham Hotspur are already in the midst of an injury crisis that has decimated their back four, but with Newcastle United to contend with tomorrow, Ange Postecoglou is facing another issue.
Ange Postecoglou has had to resort to fielding young midfielder Archie Gray as a makeshift centre-back in the past few games with Ben Davies, Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie and Micky van de Ven all absent.
Goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario is also injury with Spurs having to rely on former Newcastle man Fraser Forster. Djed Spence and Rodrigo Bentancur are also suspended adding to Postecoglou's woes.
However, the fun doesn't stop there with the Aussie telling reporters this morning (h/t The Northern Echo) that there is a sickness bug running through the squad.
Postecoglou was giving an update on Destiny Udogie and the other injured parties when he briefly mentioned that a few players have missed training today ahead of tomorrow's game.
“It looks around the six-week mark for him.
“Obviously we lose Bentancur suspended. None of the injured ones are kind of back yet and we had a bit of an illness running through the squad as well.
“So, a few missing training, but that’s alright. We’ll be okay.”
We can't wait to see what cobbled-together starting XI faces Newcastle tomorrow with so many big players missing.
Obviously, they still have some big stars in good form with James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, Son Heung-min and Dominic Solanke all able to cause us problems, but with nobody behind them, they could be very easy to pick off on a counter-attack.
Fraser Forster looks very dodgy between the sticks, too, so Newcastle should be having shots from everywhere early on to unsettle him. It's there for the taking tomorrow.
