Newcastle United's sickening injury crisis is showing no signs of going away as bad news continues to be the order of the day.

The Telegraph are now reporting that Callum Wilson, who was supposedly facing a late fitness test ahead of the Bournemouth game, is now going to be out for over six weeks.

On top of that, there's still no idea what's plaguing Sven Botman who could be out even longer than Wilson.

Newcastle have only one player close to a return from injury

Only Alexander Isak is showing any signs of getting himself off the injury list any time soon with the Sweden international pencilled in to return after the break.

The report also mentions that Sean Longstaff has a swollen ankle and is a doubt to face Chelsea. That seems to be a knock-on of the injury that looked like it was going to force him off the pitch against Bournemouth.

Eddie Howe said after the game that in an ideal world he'd have taken Longstaff off but he simply didn't have the options available on the bench. Well, that's backfired.

Freak injuries have led to muscle injuries in a vicious cycle of pain

We can't even point the finger at anyone. After all, so many of these injuries have been freak occurrences which have meant that Eddie Howe has had to rely on the same players for every game who then start to pick up knocks because their bodies are knackered.

Usually with an injury crisis like this you can look to change things in the training, but because of all of the fixtures, Newcastle have barely done any full training in order to try to prevent these kind of muscle injuries from happening. Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?

I'm genuinely terrified of trying to put anything positive to close out the article for fear of jinxing us even further so ... The End.
