In an ideal world, Newcastle United would add a central defender and a right winger to their ranks in January, but PSR is likely to have other ideas.

While rumours are intensifying over a move for defender Abdukodir Khusanov, the need for a winger is perhaps much more pressing than a defender.

However, wingers often command a much higher transfer fee and that's where Newcastle are likely to struggle.

The Magpies have been linked with a few wingers who already have Premier League pedigree but the prices tend to start at £50 million if we're looking at the likes of Antoine Semenyo or Bryan Mbeumo.

Nicolas Kuhn has caught the eye of several Premier League sides including Newcastle

Newcastle are now eyeing in-form Celtic winger Nicolas Kuhn

PSV's Johan Bakayoko was touted as a possible cheaper alternative, but the Dutch club have since issued a hands-off warning.

Now, Graeme Bailey has told The Boot Room that Newcastle are among a few Premier League sides considering a bid for Celtic's in-form winger Nicolas Kuhn who has 25 goal contributions in as many games this season.

Kuhn only arrived at Celtic from Rapid Vienna last January, costing just £3 million. His performances this season have alerted Newcastle, Tottenham and Aston Villa, all of whom are now circling.

Graeme Bailey hints that Kuhn could be available for under £10 million

Bailey suggests that Celtic would struggle to turn down a big offer for the 24-year-old, however, he goes on to say that Celtic 'could nearly treble their money' if they were to sell him. That still makes him a very cheap acquisition at under £10 million.

The German forward can play across the front three but is more at home on the right wing which is where Newcastle desperately need bodies.

For under £10 million, we'd surely be mad not to try. It's always a risk when buying from the Scottish Premier League, but this seems very low risk for a player who's in great form and heading for a possible call up to the German national side.
