Newcastle United are in desperate need of another striker with the injury record of the current two goal-scorers proving to be an issue.

As it stands, Newcastle only have two recognised strikers in the first-team, Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak. Both have shown themselves to be prone to the odd injury since joining Newcastle, and as it stands, both strikers are on the injury list.

Therefore it has to be a priority in January that Newcastle bring in another striker who can support the two we already have.

Newcastle are favourites to sign Marcos Leonardo

Reports in Brazil via BolaVIP have suggested that the Magpies have their eye on a solution.

Marcos Leonardo who currently plays for Santos in Brazil has been identified as a future star and has already been compared to Manchester City hero Sergio Aguero and Brazil great Romario by South American football expert Tim Vickery.

The 20-year-old has been linked with many clubs from the Premier League and Europe with Manchester United's name in the frame as well as Real Madrid, but the BolaVIP believes that it's Newcastle who lead the way and will make an €18million (£15.7million) bid for the striker in January.

Marcos Leonardo clearly knows where teh goal is

This season in Brazil, Marcos Leonardo has 21 goals and four assists in 45 appearances for Santos who are only five points above the drop zone in the Brasileiro Serie A.

Marcos Leonardo definitely has an eye for goal and has been praised for his poaching abilities and tendency to punish defenders for their mistakes. He sounds a lot like Alexander Isak but with a touch of Brazilian flair.

To be compared to Aguero and Romario he must have something about him, and for around £15million, surely Newcastle would be mad not to snap him up in January.
