Newcastle United may have brought in a defender already this summer but they don't look likely to stop there.

The Magpies have been notable admirers of 19-year-old Juventus defender Dean Huijsen and reports from TuttoJuve in Italy claim that to still be the case.

TuttoJuve today posted on X that Newcastle, along with Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund have all contacted Juventus for an update on Huijsen's situation with Atalanta also interested.

It looks like there could be a big tussle ahead for the signature of the promising youngster who has been compared to John Stones by FootballTalentScout.net.

Newcastle face stiff competition for Dean Huijsen

Journalist Mirko Di Natale who works for TuttoJuve posted the update today saying that Newcastle have made contact in the past few hours.

"Dortmund, Liverpool and Newcastle have, in the past few hours, enquired again about Dean Huijsen. Atalanta, for the time being, have not deepened the situation after the first exploratory contact last weekend.

"The Juventus, as previously explained, would not want to deprive themselves of him, but would only do so for a major offer of at least €30m."

£25million could be enough to land Huijsen this summer

It's believed that Juventus would be open to selling, as Di Natale says, for bids of around €30million (£25million).

Huijsen spent the second half of last season out on loan at Roma where he made 13 Serie A appearances and even popped up with two goals and an assist.

The youngster is versatile too, playing at centre-back as well as right midfield and centre midfield for Roma last season. It could be a good move by Newcastle to snap up the Spain U21 international while he's still relatively cheap.
