There are several players still on Newcastle United's books that need to be moved on this summer in order to gain any time of money from the transfer before they can leave for free next year.
Not all players with an expiring contract will be allowed thrown on the heap, some will likely be offered a new deal, some will be sold in the next week or in January, and a couple will probably be left to rot until their contract expires.
The BBC have published a graphic showing the 13 players who have 12 months left on their Newcastle deal and we'll take a look at what we think will happen with each of them.
This is just our guess mixed with our opinion.
There have been strong rumours about a summer departure for Trippier since January, but as of now he's still on the books and training with the squad. His name has been taken off his personal box at St James' Park hinting at a move. Saudi Arabia has been mooted as a destination for the vice skipper. With just over a week of the window to go, there's still time for him to move on.
Verdict: Late summer departure
Longy is a favourite of Eddie Howe and we're actually shocked that he's been allowed to get to having just 12 months left on his deal. We'd not be opposed to moving him on for a few million this summer, but we'd also not be too disappointed if he stuck around. Given Howe's love of Longy and the fact that he's one of our own, we think he'll stick around.
Verdict: New contract
This one is so hard to call. If he'd not picked up another injury we think he'd have been sold this summer, but now he's destined to stay until at least January. The thing with Wilson is that his future will 100% depend on his performances and fitness this season. If he's misfiring or never fit he could be sold in January, but if he stays fit and scores regularly he could be offered a new contract. It's a tough one.
Verdict: Sold in January
Newcastle may be in the middle of trying to sign his ultimate replacement, but we're not done with Fabi yet. He keeps earning another contract extension with his performances and he's become so rock solid under Eddie Howe we can't see any other outcome for Schar.
Verdict: New contract
Another Eddie Howe favourite who has come in for a lot of crap from fans of late. Since being pushed back into central defence he's been rock solid again, if that continues this season, then there's no reason we'd see him go. Especially given his place in the leadership group. He may get reduced game time, but he'll not be cast aside by Howe.
Verdict: New contract
Lascelles earned himself a stay of execution last season stepping in for the injured Sven Botman before succumbing to the same injury as the man he replaced. Jamaal is still the club captain and a huge influence behind the scenes and Eddie Howe knows how important he is to the squad if not so much to the team. However, with Newcastle looking to bring in Marc Guehi, Lascelles could slip further down the pecking order so it all depends on how happy he is with a bit-part role.
Verdict: Released next year
Jamal Lewis is one of those players we can't believe is still at the club. Things never worked out for the big-money signing from Norwich and has been loaned out for the last two seasons, but the Magpies can't find anyone to take him off our hands permanently. It's looking to be the same story again this summer.
Verdict: Released next year
Ryan Fraser has absolutely no future at Newcastle and no chance of redemption having been banished to train with the reserves. He had a good loan spell at Southampton last season and they want him permanently but a deal seems to be miles away. We can't imagine Newcastle carrying Fraser for another year though, we're sure they'll concede and let Fraser return to Southampton before the window closes.
Verdict: Late summer departure
Krafu has been extremely reliable as a backup for Eddie Howe covering right back and central defence and always given 100% when called upon. He's not first-team quality but a very useful utility player.
Verdict: New contract
M Dubz is one of five goalkeepers on the books at Newcastle right now with rumours that they could still make another approach for James Trafford. We all though Dubravka was destined for an exit this summer but that door seems to have closed and it's now more likely that new signing Odysseas Vlachodimos will depart on loan. Mental situation.
Verdict: Released next year
Another one of the Fab Five. We were astounded when he was offered a new deal this summer, and then even more taken aback when two more 'keepers came through the door. We understand the reason behind Gillespie from a training point of view. The lad's never going to play unless there is a huge keeper catastrophe, but it seems he's cool with that.
Verdict: New contract
A youngster who has flirted with the first team. Like Callum Wilson, his performances this season will affect what happens to him, but we haven't seen much of him over pre-season so it feels like the writing is on the wall.
Verdict: Released next year
John Ruddy
We're sure he's a top bloke, but why is he even here? One of the five 'keepers and like Gillespie, is a glorified training dummy. How many do we need?
Verdict: Released next year
What are your thoughts on our predictions? Are we being too nice or too harsh?
