Joelinton and Newcastle United are still in a contract stalemate and as things stand the Brazilian looks to be on his way out of Newcastle.
Fan favourite Joelinton is playing hardball over a new deal and the club are refusing to play along. The £40million striker/midfielder/hero has become the poster boy for what hard work and commitment can achieve. Starting life at Newcastle as an absolute joke and now sending fans into a meltdown over the idea that he could have played his last game for the club.
Currently out injured and not expected to return this season, there's a strong belief that if a new deal cannot be agreed, the club will have to sell Joelinton in the summer to avoid him leaving for free next year.
We have everything crossed that this eventuality never comes to pass, but it seems like the club are already looking at replacements according to a report in The Daily Mail yesterday.
Newcastle are looking at in-form Bournemouth duo Lloyd Kelly and Philip Billing. The latter has been linked with Newcastle on and off for a while, and Kelly's name has started popping up regularly too.
Kelly will be available on a free in the summer which would be perfect for Newcastle although Tottenham and Liverpool are also keen. Newcastle fans seem to be fully on board with Lloyd Kelly but the same can't be said of Philip Billing.
In reply to Craig Hope's post on X about this story, so many fans are saying the same thing - We'd better not be replacing Joelinton with Philip Billing.
It's a fair point, and that's nothing against Billing, but we have to be honest, he's no Joelinton.
We love Big Joe and really don't want to see him leave, but if he has to go, we want somebody better than him and therefore better than Billing to replace him.
