Following the official announcement of Sandro Tonali's £52 million move from AC Milan earlier today, the Newcastle United transfer rumour mill is already back in full flow.

Simon Jones, the Daily Mail journalist who originally broke the news of Newcastle's Tonali interest in an article posted on Monday, 12th June, has today reported that the club has rekindled a move for Harvey Barnes of relegated Leicester City.

Jones asserts that Newcastle are still in the market for a "full-back, centre-back, and a forward who can cut in from the wing", with Barnes fitting the bill on the latter due to his Premier League experience. Bilbao's Nico Williams and Barcelona's Ferran Torres are mentioned as the less-favoured alternative options.

25-year-old Barnes scored 13 league goals and made one assist last season as Leicester floundered, and the relegated side are believed to be asking for at least £35 million for him. West Ham, Aston Villa, and Tottenham are all said to have enquired about the England international, with Leicester keen on facilitating a bidding war to drive the sale price up.

Whether that's all this is remains to be seen, but Newcastle's interest in Barnes does appear to be longstanding. He was first linked to Eddie Howe's side by Alan Nixon of The Sun back in July of last year and there have been many stories written about a potential move to St. James' Park for him since.
