Newcastle United clown Jacob Murphy has posted an update following his shoulder surgery in typical Murphy fashion.

Jacob Murphy suffered a dislocated shoulder in the home tie against Borussia Dortmund after falling awkwardly on the soaking-wet surface.

It looked like he would be out for a while, but in light of the current injury issues at the club, the Newcastle winger declared himself fit to play and Eddie Howe named him on the bench to face Arsenal in the Premier League.

Murphy featured against Arsenal but it didn't go to plan

Just after the hour mark Eddie Howe threw Murphy back into the action where he had an immediate impact, firing across the face of goal for Joe Willock to race to keep in play before putting in the cross that led to the MOST CONTROVERSIAL GOAL OF ALL TIME. Sorry about that.

Unfortunately for Murphy, though, he would only last another 10 minutes or so as when running towards goal his shoulder seemingly popped out of the socket again and he had to go off. Murphy was in visible agony and it was later revealed that he would need surgery.

That surgery was on Monday and Murphy has come out of it okay. The 28-year-old who has a superb habit of making people laugh by mugging at the camera has done just that for his update on Instagram.

Murphy always makes us smile

Murphy posted four images on his Instagram showing him chilling at home with the shoulder straps on along with three from the hospital, one showing his shoulder and two more of him mugging for the camera, with the third picture being the best one where he's "crying".

Along with the photos Murphy posted this message:

"On the mend! Surgery went successfully on Monday night. Feeling super positive! Sucks to be injured but I’m really excited to test myself in a new & different way. Thank you for all the well wishes, I’ll be back before you know it new and improved."
