Alan Shearer recently sat down for a chat with Newcastle United's in-form striker Alexander Isak for Football Focus.

In an ideal world, Newcastle would be able to keep Alexander Isak at the club until he retired where he could hunt down all of Alan Shearer's records, but we're not naive enough to believe that will happen.

However, that doesn't mean that the Swedish striker who is terrorising Premier League defences this season is thinking about leaving Newcastle any time soon.

Isak has been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal with pundits practically insisting that he should be an Arsenal player, but it seems that Isak himself just laughs off those stories.

Alexander Isak isn't bothered by the constant transfer speculation

Alan Shearer asked Isak about his Newcastle future in a very cheeky way, alluding to Erling Haaland signing a bumper nine-year contract and asking if he'd be tempted to do the same before launching into what he thinks about the speculation, with Isak saying it's not something that bothers him.

“This is something you get used to. Sometimes, you see things that make you laugh or are not right. But it’s just part of football, and it shouldn’t bother you too much.”

Given how well Isak is playing of late, you can tell it's not a distraction for him at least. If only we as fans could ignore the noise as well as he does.

Alexander Isak definitely wants that iconic Number 9 shirt

In the interview on the BBC website, Shearer asks Isak about why he chose the number 14 shirt at Newcastle and whether he wants to take the number 9. While Isak didn't outright say it as Callum Wilson still occupies the number 9 shirt (remember Callum Wilson?), you could tell there's definitely part of him that wants it. Don't be surprised if he turns out wearing the iconic shirt next season.

“I’m doing well, I’m happy with number 14. But, on the other hand, I know the number nine is a special shirt for the fans.”

Isak did say that part of the reason he chose the number 14 out of the available numbers was because it seemed to be the most iconic as it was worn by Theirry Henry at Arsenal, a player he looked up to, and he also name checked David Ginola who wore 14 at Newcastle.
