St James' Park will play host to Newcastle United versus Fulham on Saturday in a classic 3pm kick-off.

Newcastle returned to winning ways with a 3-1 away win at Southampton last weekend after stumbling at home to Bournemouth the week before.

Fulham should have done better on Sunday as Manchester United scraped a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage. The Cottagers are sitting in 10th spot in the Premier League, which seems about right for their 'meh, it's Fulham' season.

We went into the last home game full of confidence and got battered, so we don't want to get to carried away again, but we expect that Newcastle should have what it takes to bag three points here.

Not Arsenal's Alexander Isak

Paul Merson has reverted to type after we praised him not so long ago

Paul Merson also believes Newcastle will claim a victory, but his Sportskeeda prediction suggests that he doesn't believe it will be easy. It's hard to say, though, as he spent the whole time writing about Alexander Isak going elsewhere.

"I watched Fulham the other day and I must admit I was disappointed. They did not show their true colours and let Manchester United off the hook in that game. In my opinion, they could have easily gotten a point and may look back at that loss as a missed opportunity.

"Despite Fulham flattering to deceive in the last game, they will still make life very difficult for Newcastle. This game could go either way, but Newcastle certainly have a bit more quality within their ranks.

"We're talking about the best centre-forward in the league right now in Alexander Isak. His goals and contributions have been mightily impressive. The thing with Isak is that he is consistently good. Some players score 10 goals in 10 games and there would have been two hat-tricks in there. But Isak is someone who scores in every single game and that makes him the best out there.

"There is no doubt that all the top clubs will want to sign him. With Financial Fair Play (FFP) also coming into the picture, it will be interesting to see if Newcastle can hold on to him. If Arsenal signed Isak, I would be shocked if they don't end up winning the Premier League. The same goes for Chelsea, it will seal that top four place and take them to the next level!

"Prediction: Newcastle United 2-1 Fulham"

Another win will keep us in the top four running

A 2-1 victory seems about right for this fixture, but obviously, we'd love to see our lads back on top form, given that our next test is Arsenal at home in the second leg of the Carabao Cup.

We can't see this game being a classic by any stretch of the imagination, but it's all about the three points and keeping the pressure on for those top four places.

Another goal or two for Alexander Isak would be lovely, especially if he takes his shirt off to celebrate revealing a T-shirt with "I'm not chuffing going to chuffing Arsenal" printed on it underneath.
