Newcastle United are back in action on Saturday in a 3pm non-televised kick-off against all-but-doomed Sheffield United.

Anything other than a victory for the Blades will see Chris Wilder's side relegated back to the Championship, and given how Newcastle put eight goals past them in their own back yard, it's going to be a tough test.

Newcastle will be desperate for a performance to banish the bad vibes created as a result of a shockingly bad display at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.

Eddie Howe spoke to the media this morning and gave an injury update as relayed by The Chronicle, which shone a light on a potential cause for concern.

Tino Livramento is a doubt again for the Sheffield United game

Howe said that Callum Wilson came through his cameo at Palace well so we can expect him to be involved in some way on Saturday, however Tino Livramento may not be so lucky.

"He came on vs Spurs and had a slight reaction with his ankle after that game. Minimal but enough to restrict his pre-Palace training. Similar situation with many players where we need to look after them. Let's see how he gets through training today."

We had hoped that Tino would be in the starting lineup against Palace so it was disappointing to see him on the bench, but it sounds like it's going to be a similar story tomorrow.

A couple more players are nearing a return

Eddie also gave positive updates on Nick Pope and Miguel Almiron with the former back in training and undergoing shooting drills and the latter targeting a return against Brighton next month. Joelinton is still on track to return this season, but Kieran Trippier remains unavailable with no date set on a return.

As long as Howe doesn't try that fluid three at the back thing again we can handle the fact that Tino may not play, but if he's going to use that same tactic again we're not going to be happy bunnies.

Against Sheffield United we should absolutely be playing our own game, dictating the pace, playing our usual high press with our trademark intensity, especially at home.
