Leeds United are looking to return to the Premier League at the second time of asking after their relegation in 2023 and are currently well-placed to do so.

The Yorkshire side are in action tonight against some team called Sunderland, where a win will take them back to the top of the table.

Confidence must be high in Leeds as they are already planning summer transfers for when promotion is confirmed with at least one Newcastle United player in their sights.

Leeds had previously been linked with a move for Sean Longstaff, but that's not who they have their eye on right now.

Leeds United will move for Callum Wilson if they secure promotion

Transfer journalist Graeme Bailey has told The Boot Room that if Leeds are promoted, they will make a move to pick up Newcastle striker Callum Wilson.

Wilson's contract is due to expire in the summer, which means he'll be able to leave Newcastle for free, which would suit Leeds down to the ground.

Although their club doctors must be terrified. They already have their hands full with Patrick Bamford. Yes, we already made this joke when Leeds were linked with Matt Targett, it's not our fault Leeds seem to love injury-prone players.

Coventry are also keen to bring Callum Wilson home

Premier League West Ham feels like the most likely destination for Wilson should Newcastle not offer the 33-year-old (in 10 days time) a new deal.

TBR also claims that Frank Lampard's Coventry are keen on the former England striker, and a return home could be on the cards, although we're sure Wilson would prefer to stay in the Premier League.

Eddie Howe could still convince the club to offer Wilson a one-year extension; it all depends on how he gets on for the remainder of the season and indeed, the club's summer transfer plans.
