Karl Darlow's mini-transfer saga appears to be drawing to a close, but it looks like the 32-year-old goalkeeper is going to sign for Leeds rather than Bournemouth after all

Previous reports had Darlow as being "on the verge" of a £5 million move to the South Coast, but the Cherries have now agreed a fee for Romanian international stopper Ionuț Radu of Inter Milan instead, leaving the way open for the Elland Road club to get their man.

After news of the development was broken by Leeds-based reporters Graham Smyth (Yorkshire Evening Post) and Phil Hay (The Athletic), Keith Downie of Sky Sports summed everything up nicely on his Twitter (X) account this afternoon:

Leeds are apparently offering a bigger transfer fee, which could be critical to Newcastle in the face of the financial fair play that are significantly impacting the club's business this summer, and Darlow is expected back in the UK soon to complete a medical in Yorkshire.

The Elland Road club's proximity to Darlow’s young family and the prospect of more regular starts is said to have played in their favour. With Nick Pope, Martin Dúbravka, and Loris Karius all ahead of him in the pecking order, an exit was always on the cards for Darlow this summer. He'll go with everyone's best wishes after years of good service to the badge.
