Karl Darlow appears to be on the verge of a permanent transfer to Bournemouth, with a fee of around £5 million mooted for the signature of the experienced goalkeeper.
Back on Monday the 3rd of July, we reported on a Tweet from Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie which stated that Bournemouth and Leeds were going head-to-head for the 32-year-old shot-stopper:
Since then it appears that the South Coast club have moved ahead of their Yorkshire counterparts in the race for Darlow, with Scott Wilson of The Northern Echo today claiming that the goalkeeper could leave Newcastle's US tour to sign on at the Vitality Stadium within the next few days.
Leeds are still interested, apparently, and there's no indication of what Darlow's preferred destination would be, but he'd surely have had glowing reports about Bournemouth as a club and as a place from the likes of Callum Wilson and Matt Ritchie.
Middlesbrough and Hull City, where Darlow spent the second half of 2022/23 on loan, were both keen to sign the Northampton-born stopper, but the combination of transfer fee and wages has proven to be too rich for both Championship clubs.
Darlow has been at Newcastle since August 2014 and will go with the best wishes of everyone at the club, having been an excellent servant throughout his tenure at St. James' Park.
