The January transfer window is now open and the rumour mill is whirring up, however the feeling around Newcastle United is that it will be very quiet this month in terms of incomings, outgoings could happen.

If Newcastle are able to shift a couple of players on with Miguel Almiron, Martin Dubravka and Sean Longstaff all available, the money raised, and money saved on wages will go into the kitty for the summer.

There's obviously a possibility that some moves will be made this month by Newcastle, but we're not getting our hopes up.

Although, Craig Hope has provided an update on one player linked with Newcastle suggesting that the Magpies will make a move this year.

Newcastle almost signed Tyler Dibling in 2022

Tyler Dibling of Southampton is a player very much on Newcastle's radar after Eddie Howe watched him bang in a hat-trick against Newcastle's reserves a couple of years ago.

Indeed, an attempt was made to sign him when he was 16 but he ended up going to Chelsea. That move didn't stick with Dibling unable to settle and he returned to Southampton.

Dibling is now a first-team player for the Saints and is impressing in the Premier League which is only strengthening the Magpies' desire to bring him to Tyneside.

Craig Hope has been told Newcastle are definitely interested in Tyler Dibling

Speaking on his YouTube channel on Friday morning after speaking with Eddie Howe, Craig Hope said that sources have told him that there's a very strong interest in Tyler Dibling at Newcastle and that he expects the club to make a move to bring him to the North East in 2025.

However, Hope does go on to say that he doesn't expect it to be a January move, more likely Newcastle will pounce in the summer.

That gives Dibling a bit more time to get more Premier League experience under his belt, and if Southampton fail to maintain their top-flight status, that could make things easier for Newcastle to snap up the 18-year-old.
