Outgoing transfers is likely to be the focus for Newcastle United in January with the squad filled with players who have long overstayed their welcome.

The club has not been very proactive when it comes to moving on players and it has caused issues with an ageing, lower-quality squad and a lack of funds to spend on improvements.

Hopefully, Paul Mitchell will fair better than Dan Ashworth when it comes to trimming the deadwood from the squad.

Of course, that's only half the battle, finding suitable, affordable replacements is the bigger challenge, but that will likely have to wait until the summer.

Newcastle have received a bid from Brazil for Miguel Almrion

The transfer window opens tomorrow and Newcastle United have already had a bid for one player linked with an exit, Miguel Almiron.

That is according to Craig Hope who earlier posted on X about a list of clubs interested in Miggy, but then followed it up by claiming a bid has been made by a Brazilian club not previously listed.

However, Hope believes that there will be stumbling blocks that would make this particular move difficult to complete.

A move to Brazil may not be on the cards but a move in January is a must for Miggy

Miggy's salary demands and good old agent fees are said to be a stumbling block.

Almiron is proving trickier to shift than blood stain at a murder scene, whether it's Newcastle's lofty and unrealistic valuations, the MLS wage cap, or simply Miggy's refusal to leave, the Paraguayan just won't seem to leave.

After being reduced to benchwarmer status this season, though, perhaps now is the time for the winger to accept his time us up on Tyneside.
