There are plenty of rumours this summer suggesting that Newcastle United's Martin Dubravka could be heading over the border to Scotland to replace Joe Hart at Celtic this summer.
After a season in which Martin Dubravka found himself playing regularly for Newcastle again, he may feel slightly put out by the fact that there seems to be a clear push to move him on this summer.
Given the number of goals he conceded for the Magpies last season, though, it's a wonder we're even brazen enough to ask for a transfer fee should Celtic make their move as expected.
Indeed, Dubravka's dodginess has now extended into his form for his country as Slovakia were beaten by Ukraine 2-1 at Euro 2024.
Former England goalkeeper Joe Hart who just left Celtic after hanging up his boots was quick to criticise Dubravka in his post-match comments on the BBC.
“Through the air, his thought process is ‘can I come, can I come’. No, he would have had to spear him at waist height.
“That’s a great touch, but Dubravka is going to be really disappointed with what happened next. Once the ball is brought down, it is 80-20 in his favour if he stands big or makes a long barrier, but he ends up doing nothing really and he actually looks quite worried that the ball could hit him.
“He’s going to be very disappointed.”
A goalkeeper being terrified of the ball is not a good look at all. In fact, we now may have to pay Celtic to take Dubravka off our hands.
Although the way things are going with our pursuit of a new stopper, we maybe can't afford to let him go.
I jest of course, it's early days yet and I'm sure it'll all come good in time.
