Newcastle United have had some top quality players over the years and in a recent interview Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall were asked to pick just one to play in their current side.
If you ask most Newcastle fans if they could bring one former Newcastle player back in their prime to play for the club now, nine times out of ten you're probably going to get the answer Alan Shearer.
Unfortunately for Eddie Howe and Jason Tindall, the Asim and Andy of the Adopted Geordies YouTube channel forbade them from picking the Premier League's all-time leading scorer, forcing them to think a bit more deeply.
Both Eddie and Jason gave great answers that are hard to argue with.
Eddie Howe looked back to The Entertainers period when making his decision saying that that was the team that he knew best while also being careful to make sure it was known that whoever he picks was in no way statement on what position he believes needs strengthening. Always two steps ahead is Eddie.
"For me there's obviously a few from the Entertainers era. You've got loads of good players but (David) Ginola was ... he just looked so good didn't he? It did contribute to how good he looked, how he ran, obviously to his technical ability. He was a difference maker."
You absolutely won't get any argument from me about choosing prime Ginola to make a comeback even if we have a stacked left wing already.
Jason Tindall went further back into the archives for his pick.
"I'm probably going to go with Chrissy Waddle I think. A similar type player, he had great balance, he was really creative."
Again, not a bad shout at all, but Waddle was a bit before my time so I'm siding with Eddie Howe on this one and I say bring back Ginola. Although if I was asked to pick just one player myself it may take me hours and I still couldn't pick just one. Laurent Robert, anyone? Rob Lee? Peter Beardsley? Yohan Cabaye? Oh man, I've opened up a can of worms for myself now.
