Newcastle United visit Selhurst Park on Saturday in a non-televised 3pm kick-off hoping to get one over on Crystal Palace after their summer shenanigans.

The Newcastle fanbase will be hoping for a win on Saturday, not just because a win is always a good thing and we need to recover from Monday night's shambles, but because Crystal Palace played us for fools all summer over the proposed transfer of Marc Guehi and we need payback.

Crystal Palace are 19th in the Premier League going into this game after a horrendous start to the campaign in which Marc Guehi has looked miles off the type of player you'd want to dump £50 million on.

It would be easy to get caught up in the form book and predict a Newcastle win here, but the pundits aren't getting carried away.

Chris Sutton has followed Paul Merson with a prediction of a draw

Both Paul Merson and Chris Sutton predicted a big win for Newcastle on Monday and got things wrong, so they've guarded against that again this week with Chris Sutton's prediction for the BBC going with a draw in line with Merson's prediction.

"Crystal Palace have still only won one league game all season, against Tottenham at the end of October. The Eagles got a good point at Aston Villa last weekend but their manager Oliver Glasner definitely needs more than that to provide some early Christmas cheer.

"I am not sure Glasner will get much joy here, though. Although I did not expect Newcastle lose at home to West Ham on Monday, I would not be surprised to see them bounce back.

"This smells of a draw to me, because I do not see Newcastle losing.

Crystal Palace's confidence or lack thereof could dictate how Newcastle play

A draw isn't beyond the realms of possibility for this one. After how poor Newcastle were on Monday night in terms of creating chances, they may struggle again.

Hopefully, Palace will feel emboldened playing at home and might go for it which will play into Newcastle's style as they leave gaps.

However, if Palace decide to dig in and defend in a low block, we'll likely see the horrors of this season's inability to create come to the fore yet again.
