Newcastle maintained their unwanted record against Borussia Dortmund tonight.

If it wasn't for bad luck, we'd have no luck at all lately. Newcastle are losing players at a rate of one per game and that looks to have continued again tonight.

Callum Wilson was fairly anonymous in the first half, in fact, very anonymous, so when he didn't appear after half-time it wasn't really a great shock.

Many fans will have thought that Eddie Howe was just changing things up to try and get back into the game. It now turns out that it was another injury worry for Eddie Howe to deal with.

Speaking to NUFC TV at full-time, Howe explained that Wilson was withdrawn as a precaution.

Howe says he's never known a situation like the one currently facing Newcastle

“I’ve never known a situation like this before where we are losing a player a game at the minute. Today Callum just felt a tightness in his hamstring so we took him off at half-time as a precaution to make sure it didn’t get worse, so we don’t know the extent of that.”

Newcastle head to the previous haunt of Wilson and Howe at the weekend when they take on Bournemouth in the Premier League.

Now it's just a waiting game as to whether Wilson will be fit enough to face his former side.
