As rumours of Noni Madueke joining Newcastle United gather pace, the Magpies look to have missed out on another right-wing target.

Newcastle United are yet to find the right candidate to replace Miguel Almiron on the right side of the attack next season, but it has not been for the lack of looking.

Many players have been linked with Newcastle since January when it first looked like Miggy would be sold to the Saudi Pro League, and one player that has been on the Magpies' radar from the start is 21-year-old Juventus winger Matias Soule.

The Argentinian spent last season on loan at Frosinone where he was a first-team regular and caught the eye of many clubs around Europe.

Matias Soule rejected Leicester to stay in Italy with Roma

Soule had reportedly decided to join Leicester City just a few days ago, seemingly rejecting the chance to move to Newcastle and Aston Villa.

However, at the last minute, Soule did a U-turn and opted to stay in Italy and now looks set to join AS Roma with Fabrizio Romano giving the deal his trademark "Here we go" stamp of approval.

The deal could be worth up to £25 million in add-ons with Juventus to tack on a 10% sell-on clause.

Soule staying in Italy removes the "what if?" factor

Seeing these players slip away has been a theme of the summer but now that it looks like Noni Madueke is on his way from Chelsea, it does take the sting out of things a little bit.

At least Soule isn't going to a Premier League rival where we would potentially get to see him in action every week and giving us massive "what if?" vibes.

Still, there's always Yankuba Minteh for that, eh lads? The lad scored against some farmers in mid-week and the meltdown was off the charts. This season is going to be a nightmare if Minteh performs well.
