Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Chelsea winger Noni Madueke, according to reports.

The 22-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Magpies with Toon boss Eddie Howe eager to bring in a new right-wing option to replace the potentially outgoing Miguel Almiron.

Newcastle have struggled to make an impact in a competitive summer transfer window so far despite signing Lloyd Kelly, Odysseas Vlachodimos, John Ruddy and retaining Lewis Hall after a successful loan spell.

The signing of Madueke would surely kickstart a trend for Newcastle as they look to improve their squad after a slew of injuries and failure to qualify for European football.

Madueke is now the first-choice target for Newcastle

Howe has eyed the Englishman for a while with the Magpies recently enquiring for him.

According to Football Insider who revealed this story, Madueke became the first-choice right-winger for Newcastle after failing to land Michael Olise to Bayern Munich and complications with Jarrod Bowen and Crysencio Summerville.

Madueke is currently on a pre-season tour with Chelsea in the USA, so despite personal terms being agreed it doesn't look like a deal will be made in the very near future.

Chelsea are reportedly looking for a profit on the 22-year-old who joined the club in January 2023 for £29million.

Is Noni Madueke the player Newcastle needs?

It's clear to see the quality of Madueke when he's on the pitch for a fairly lacklustre Chelsea side.

The under-21 European champion has played 46 games in all competitions for the Blues since his arrival, scoring nine goals and bagging three assists.

While the numbers aren't extraordinary, they're certainly better than the numbers put up by Miguel Almiron over the last season.

With a move to Saudi Arabia looking a possibility for Almiron, the door is open for Madueke to thrive on Tyneside.
