In what is now a running theme of the summer transfer window in 2024 Newcastle United are to miss out on yet another transfer target.
In fairness, Newcastle were already set to miss out on this one after 21-year-old Matias Soule had seemingly opted to reject moves to Newcastle and Aston Villa to instead take up the challenge at newly-promoted Leicester City.
However, HITC now reports that the deal between Juventus and Leicester for the promising Argentinian has fallen through after Soule has had a change of heart.
It would appear that Soule has had his head turned by another club and has now told Juventus where he wants to go this summer with a deal close to being finalised.
After an impressive spell on loan at Frosinone last season, it seems Soule has taken the decision to stick with what he knows and remain in Italy.
AS Roma now looks to be his most likely destination as the two sides work on a deal.
Newcastle had likely already scratched Matias Soule's name off their list already when it looked like he was destined for Leicester, but still, that list is dwindling.
Right-wing is a priority position for Newcastle to recruit this summer which has seen the likes of Federico Chiesa, Anthony Elanga, Noni Madueke and Jarrod Bowen linked with a move to Tyneside.
Each of those comes with its own pros, cons and complications, and the truth is we're still expecting whomever we sign to be someone whose name has barely been mentioned if at all.
That is absolutely fine with us, as long as it's soon because the wait is starting to breed negativity amongst the fans and we'd be lying if we said it wasn't creeping into NUFCfeed Towers.
