Before a signing is pictured in the shirt, a 'here we go' from Fabrizio Romano is as good of a confirmation as you're going to get that a deal is done.

This morning Fabrizio Romano has posted on X that Newcastle United's move for Will Osula is a 'Here we go, confirmed' with the player heading to Tyneside for his medical.

If everything goes well then the 21-year-old will sign a contract to become a Newcastle player and Sheffield Wednesday will be £10 million better off with a further £5 million coming in add-ons later down the line.

It's not the signing that's going to make Newcastle fans forget about this annoying summer, but it is a signing we needed to make.

Will Osula struggled last season in the Premier League

The Denmark U21 international will come in to be the back-up for Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, and given that Wilson will miss at least the first game of the season, we expect Osula will be on the bench when Southampton come to St James' Park in just under two weeks time.

Osula made 23 appearances in the Premier League last season, failing to find the net for Sheffield United. He did, however, pick up three goals in two FA Cup games.

We have to remember that Osula was playing in one of the worst teams to grace the Premier League since Sunderland, however.

Osula has looked stronger and sharper in pre-season

The youngster has got off to a good start in pre-season for the Blades, bagging himself a couple of goals in friendlies and looking stronger and sharper than he did last season.

With a few months of the Eddie Howe training regime behind him, he could actually give Wilson a good run for his money if he starts finding the net.

Osula will also add some height to Newcastle's attack, standing at 6'4" he could be a huge asset at set-pieces giving the lads someone else to aim at in the box along with Dan Burn and Sven Botman.

So while it's not a name that fans are going to flock to the club shop to get printed on their shirts, it's a solid coup and we're looking forward to seeing what he can bring.
