Newcastle United's prize for knocking Manchester United out of the Carabao Cup is a trip to Stamford Bridge next month.
With Newcastle drawn into another all-Premier League tie for the Carabao Cup it was little surprise when it was confirmed today that the fixture with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge will be shown live on Sky Sports.
The next round of the Carabao Cup will be completed during week commencing 18th December.
Newcastle will face Chelsea on Tuesday 19th December for an 8pm kick-off live on Sky Sports.
The Toon Army will be hoping for an early Christmas present in the form of another win and advancement into the semi-final of the competition we came so close to winning last season.
Newcastle have already knocked out two teams who have, between them, held the league cup for eight of the last 10 seasons in the form of Manchester City and Manchester United.
The other two years the winners were ... Chelsea and Liverpool.
Chelsea are of course our next opponents, and Liverpool are also still in the competition. We will likely have to knock out every holder from the last 10 years if we want our name on the trophy.
If we do it the hard way, it only feels more earned.
