There can't be many things more frustrating for a football club than knowing that they are likely to be losing one of their prize assets at the end of the current campaign.

La Liga 2 side Malaga are pretty much resigned to the fact that their 18-year-old prodigy Antonio Cordero is likely to be leaving the Spanish side for pastures new when the season wraps up.

Indeed, many reports last week had Newcastle United down as his most likely destination despite interest from Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid.

However, Malaga manager Sergio Pellicer is hoping for a resolution sooner rather than later, with Cordero still on the fence about what to do next.

Antonio Cordero has a big call to make

Malaga are growing frustrated with not knowing Antonio Cordero's next move

Speaking at the weekend (via The Chroncile) Pellicer said he would love for the saga to be over.

"Do I want it to be resolved? Yes, I would be the first. I want to know now, the sooner the better."

The Malaga brass likely know that there's only a slim chance of Cordero remaining at the club beyond this season, but while there's still a chance, we're sure they'd like to know one way or another so they can prepare for the future.

Antonio Cordero could be a great addition to the NUFC youth set up

Antonio Cordero is being touted as the next big thing to come out of Spain, hence Barcelona and Real Madrid's interest, but Newcastle have been reported as his preferred destination.

The versatile forward has four goals and six assists this season in 25 La Liga 2 outings, but it's worth noting that only a few of those appearances were as a starter.

Cordero certainly sounds like he could be an exciting addition to the Newcastle United youth army, but we feel that he's unlikely to be first-team ready for a while. La Liga 2 to the Premier League is a huge step up.
