The biggest fear for Newcastle United fans right now - beyond the whole cup final form derailment - is that the club will fail to keep hold of Alexander Isak in the summer.

Alexander Isak is being constantly linked with a move to Arsenal in the media, but there are other clubs said to be interested in the Swedish striker.

There's a strong feeling that if Newcastle once again fail to qualify for Europe, Isak may want to leave. We're surprised he didn't drive to Arsenal himself on Saturday after the defeat to Man City. He looked ready to.

A new report from Spanish publication, SPORT has now even gone as far as claiming that the Magpies have set an asking price for the star.

Alexander Isak is in demand

Spanish media claim that Newcastle could be willing to sell Alexander Isak this summer

SPORT claims that Barcelona are also keen on Isak along with Premier League trio Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool, and that Newcastle would demand €100 million (£83 million) to make he deal happen.

The story was already weak sauce for us given the origins, but when the price of £83 million came into it, we knew it was just some journalist writing a story to keep themselves occupied.

Newcastle may indeed be forced to sell Isak at some point, it's even possible that it could be in the summer if the wheels come off our season, but we highly doubt £83 million would get the Toon chiefs to the table.

Newcastle aren't likely to even entertain sub-£100m bids

Unless Isak really pushes to leave and downs tools, the idea that Newcastle would even entertain a bid below £100 million is insanity.

We have the best striker in Europe, highly sought after by several top clubs. We have a licence to print money here, but we're absolutely certain that the club would rather keep hold of their prize asset.

The club are keen to offer Isak a new deal. However, his current contract runs to 2028 so there's likely to be no panic from the club's side just yet.
