The main priority for Newcastle United in this transfer window is to find someone to play on the right wing as effectively as Anthony Gordon does down the left.

A report in The Northern Echo this morning claimed that Newcastle are confident that they can land West Ham United's England star Jarrod Bowen to be the right flank's answer to Anthony Gordon.

That is despite West Ham having no intention of selling the 27-year-old who is under contract with the Hammers until 2030.

Tottenham Hotspur have already tried their luck for the winger and were told in no uncertain terms that he's not for sale and for them to even consider discussing a move, they'd have to make an offer in excess of £100million.

Newcastle's confidence over Bowen could be misplaced

That should be seen as a red flag for Newcastle, but apparently, they intend to press on with a bid.

However, HITC claims that sources close to Jarrod Bowen reckon that he would have little interest in moving to Tyneside with his intention to remain at West Ham.

This will come as a huge blow to the Magpies who had Bowen as their main priority, however, they aren't without their backup options should a bid for Bowen fail.

Anthony Elanga is another option for Newcastle

Newcastle have set aside the bulk of their budget for a right-winger this summer, but surely £100million plus is out of their reach at this point in time.

Nottingham Forest's Swedish winger Anthony Elanga remains of interest after the Magpies were unable to convince Forest to part with him as part of the Elliot Anderson deal.

We'll see how this one plays out over the next few weeks, but Bowen seems intent on staying put and West Ham are set on keeping him.
