After being dumped out of the FA Cup on Sunday and coming off the back of yet another defeat at Anfield, Newcastle United fans could be forgiven for feeling a bit down in the dumps right now, but 'The Messiah' Kevin Keegan is on hand to remind us that things could be worse.

The love between Newcastle fans and Kevin Keegan is still as strong as ever after The Entertainers era, and while Keegan has refused many an invitation to return to the club, the two-time Toon boss has kept up to date on the goings on at the club.

Eddie Howe and Kevin Keegan met back in 2023 at the Tyne Theatre at an event there and Keegan was instantly won over by the Newcastle gaffer

Keegan was back in the North East recently speaking at an event at Gosforth Park Hotel for the NSPCC and he spoke about how Eddie Howe is the right man for the job.

Eddie Howe is the right man for the job

Kevin Keegan is 'convinced' Eddie Howe will take Newcastle where we want to be

Keegan urged fans to stick by Eddie Howe, saying he believes he's the right man for the job (via NUFC Blog).

“Where you are so lucky here now you have a guy in charge of your football club who gets it. He really does get it. You have not had that for a long time. Forget Mike Ashley he’s not worth talking about.

“But it was 10 years where this club went absolutely nowhere, but this guy now (Eddie Howe), who you’ve got, if they support him, definitely Eddie Howe, don’t give up on him… I was with Eddie Howe at the theatre, and we discussed for 20 minutes all things Newcastle United.

“From that minute on, before that I was convinced, but I was convinced that this guy (Howe) will take you where you want to go. So support him.”

There's still a huge possibility that this season can be viewed as successful

In less than two weeks Newcastle United will once again step out at Wembley in a cup final. That's twice under Eddie Howe already.

We've made it to the Champions League once already, too, and are still in the race to return to Europe's elite competition again.

Yes, things haven't been great on the pitch lately, but we've come through these spells before and we'll do it again.
