The media will have you believe that Bruno Guimaraes is a whisker away from joining Manchester City with Pep Guardiola lining up a big-money bid for the Brazilian.
We're not denying there's an interest there from Pep, but Man City didn't pounce when Bruno's £100m release clause was active, and as things stand the chances of Bruno Guimaraes donning the blue of Manchester City this season are very slim, no matter how much they need him right now.
Bruno has repeatedly spoken about his love for Newcastle - the city, the people, the club and yet he's never far from a story suggesting he wants out.
However, as the message isn't getting through, Bruno has been at it again.
Andy Sixsmith spoke to Bruno after he received his award for making 100 Premier League appearances, and the Brazilian laid it all out once again.
“We are Geordie now. This is the place I feel like home in. I think I have a new home outside of Brazil.”
“I want my sons to know exactly what I’m doing here to make a special connection for them because the connection I have with this place is unbelievable.”
“I feel like a fan of the team. When I retire I will support the club because they’ve made me feel at home since day one.”
If Bruno was able to be part of the team that finally ends our trophy drought, he will be immortalised in Geordie history.
There are obviously still two big chances to do that this season, with a Carabao Cup semi-final coming soon and the FA Cup journey yet to commence.
Winning a trophy could be the final nail in the coffin of exit talk around Newcastle's big players, even if it is just the League Cup. It still gets us into Europe, albeit the Conference League, but European football is what the big names want, trophies are what the big names want. A cup win delivers both.
