You can tell there's a transfer window coming up as Newcastle United headlines are once again dominated by the potential exit of Bruno Guimaraes.
No matter what the Brazilian says, or how emphatically he makes the point that he is happy at the club, there are always going to be rumours about him leaving.
Lately, thanks to Rodri's long-term injury and Manchester City's poor run of results, Bruno is being heralded as the man Pep Guardiola must sign to turn their fortunes around.
Regardless of the reality of the situation, the rumour makes for a good story which is why we keep seeing it on a daily basis.
Fortunately, Chris Waugh of The Athletic has been asked about the situation in his most recent Q&A with Newcastle fans and he has confirmed that there has been no movement on Bruno to Man City as things stand.
"Those inside Newcastle are adamant there has been no contact from Manchester City ahead of January and, for a signing of that cost and magnitude, it would be unusual for there to have been no movement at all already.
"Newcastle, meanwhile, are determined not to lose any of their star players in January — Guimaraes, [Anthony] Gordon or [Alexander] Isak — and do not have the PSR need to move them on, either, with fringe sales likely to suffice."
We've always been convinced that a January exit for Bruno would be highly unlikely and it seems that those with genuine inside information are saying the same, and that's good enough for us.
Are we confident that he won't move in the summer? Absolutely not. But that all depends on how he and his teammates perform for the rest of the season and whether or not Newcastle grab a European spot.
Their fates lie in their own hands at this point.
