Chelsea will seemingly not be happy until every player ever to have received praise at any point in their career is on their books.
It doesn't matter who Newcastle United are linked with, so too are Chelsea it seems. At this point, they'd outbid us for their own players.
Not content with trying to beat us to every transfer target, the Blues are also coming after our players.
A recent report had suggested that Chelsea had approached Newcastle with a player-plus-cash offer for our £63million record signing Alexander Isak with Nicolas Jackson heading the other way.
Journalist Ben Jacobs has been talking about this proposal to Steve Wraith on NUFC Matters where he has said that he's been told there was no truth to the swap deal story, but the clubs did talk.
“Regarding Isak, the idea that Chelsea came calling and tried to trade Nicolas Jackson is played down by sources I speak to. In fact, emphatically denied, not just distanced, shut down, but there was a conversation.
We can only imagine and indeed hope that the conversation was very brief and went something like this:
Chelsea: "Hello good people at Newcastle United, Chelsea here, we were wondering if you would be interested in doing a deal for Alexa...."
NUFC: "Nope!"
*Slams phone down in dramatic fashion to emphasise point*
If it were us we'd have hung up after "Chelsea".
Newcastle will fight tooth and nail this summer to keep hold of stars like Alexander Isak and Bruno Guimaraes, and despite all the talk surrounding Anthony Gordon and Liverpool, we now believe the club will discuss terms with the 22-year-old to put all that to bed too.
Whatever happens next season I just really hope we finish above Chelsea. They've really got my back up this summer, if you hadn't noticed.
