Friday saw Newcastle United mark the third year anniversary of when Eddie Howe joined the club, but while the club were celebrating the day, The Guardian were lining up his replacement.

Every since the takeover rumours started to look more like something that would happen at Newcastle United, Jose Mourinho's name has been mentioned.

Seen in the past as the manager you want to come in and kick-start a big money revolution, and given his soft spot for Newcastle thanks to the time he spent working under Sir Bobby Robson, Mourinho's name has never been far away from stories about Newcastle.

Indeed, every few months some journalist will resurrect the link in order to sell a few papers/farm a few clicks and Friday was The Guardian's turn.

The Jose Mourinho links never seem to go away

The Guardian's article was co-written by well-known mackem journalist and asker of the most ridiculous questions in the Friday morning press conferences, Louise Taylor, so pinches of salt were definitely required when reading the story anyway.

However, it picked up traction and became a hot topic of discussion, but it seems this time around there aren't many who think it would be a good move for Newcastle. There was a time when everyone seemed to think Mourinho would be perfect for Newcastle, but the 'Special One' is far from special these days, often causing more trouble than is worthwhile wherever he goes - he's already doing it in Turkey.

Therefore we absolutely agree with what TalkSPORT presenter Andy Goldstein has said about the recent links.

It's still a huge no from me when it comes to Mourinho

Speaking on his show alongside Darren Bent, Goldstein called Mourinho a dinosaur.

"I think it'd be terrible for Newcastle [appointing Mourinho]. I think I understand why the owners would think that if you want to be a super club, you need a super manager.

But do you not think he's a bit of a dinosaur now? I think football's passed him by, and I just wouldn't want a José Mourinho of now at my club, and I would imagine all Newcastle fans would feel the same."

I've personally never been keen on Mourinho coming to Newcastle. He's far too controversial and he's far from the serial winner he once was - so it's not worth the headache.

There's something that feels inevitable about him coming here, however, I just hope I'm wrong.
