One of the big transfer stories to follow this summer will be where Bournemouth defender Dean Huijsen ultimately ends up.

Newcastle United are one of several Premier League clubs circling the 19-year-old Spain international after an impressive first season in the English top flight with the Cherries.

It is being widely reported that Dean Huijsen has a £50 million release clause that will become active in the summer, which is expected to lead to quite a battle for the talented centre-back.

A recent report had suggested that out of the Premier League contingent, Chelsea are the frontrunners for his signature, but there are other considerations that could place that position in jeopardy.

Dean Huijsen - the heat is on

Champions League qualification will be a huge determining factor in Dean Huijsen's future

BBC Sport believes that two big factors could influence Huijsen's decision when it comes to where he'll ply his trade next season.

Champions League football is expected to be something that the 19-year-old will be looking at, and with Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Newcastle the four Premier League clubs most keen on Huijsen, he's pretty much got that covered. Newcastle and Chelsea are in that battle for the remaining Champions League places, as Liverpool are nailed on for qualification, while Arsenal are looking like a safe bet too.

Should Newcastle or Chelsea miss out on the Champions League, you could possibly remove them from the running.

Newcastle may have the advantage when it comes to minutes

The second consideration for Dean Huijsen will be regular football, and this is probably where Newcastle have the advantage. Our defence is ageing and frail with Eddie Howe trying to add youth to the backline.

Sven Botman will be hoping his injury woes will be fully behind him next season, and having another top, young defender to play alongside him would be ideal for him and the club.

Chelsea have a million and six players at their disposal, so nobody is guaranteed game time there. Arsenal and Liverpool already have strong centre-backs at their disposal and would look to be rotating more often, so Newcastle seems like the best choice in our biased opinion.

However, the big factor that could ruin all four clubs' chances is that Huijsen would jump at the chance to join Real Madrid if the Spanish side enters the race, and Bayern Munich are also interested and can't be counted out.

It's going to be an intense battle for the youngster and we can't wait to watch it unfold.
