Eddie Howe will return to the dugout on Saturday as Newcastle United take on Ipswich Town at St James' Park in a 3:00pm non-televised kick-off.

Jason Tindall stuck with the same XI that had been winning for Eddie Howe for all three of the games for which he was in charge, only for the winning streak to come to an abrupt halt last weekend against Aston Villa.

Three games in six days proved too much for the lads, and you could see how drained they were as they fell victim to Aston Villa's press.

Eddie Howe hinted in this morning's presser that Fabian Schar should be okay to start on Saturday after coming off with a hamstring issue against Villa, so we only see Howe making one change.

Just one change for Howe

Goalkeeper

Nick Pope - After leaking four goals last week, Pope will be praying for a clean sheet on Saturday.

Defenders

Kieran Trippier - Was exposed last week as Aston Villa tore him apart, but in his defence, he was having to cover a lot for Fabian Schar who was on a different planet.

Fabian Schar - Howe expects Schar will be okay to play so we've stuck him in from the start. He absolutely has to have a better game than last week.

Dan Burn - Another one who was collateral damage thanks to Schar's off-day last week, although he wasn't as poor as Schar and Trippier.

Tino Livramento - Tino wasn't at his best last week at all, we're really hoping the back line bounces back.

Midfielders

Bruno Guimaraes (c) - El Capitan was fuming last week, and he let it affect his game. We need a more composed Bruno out there this week.

Sandro Tonali - Tonali was decent last week, not great by any means, but by comparison, decent. He's become such a huge player for us.

Joelinton - We were actually impressed J7 didn't lift any of the Villa players into the stratosphere last week, he kept his head pretty well.

Forwards

Jacob Murphy - Murphy was practically anonymous last week as Newcastle's right flank was absolutely battered. We need Ballon d'Or Murphy back.

Alexander Isak - Needs to get back in the scoring game, but he needs supply to do that, and that was sorely lacking at Villa Park.

Anthony Gordon - Harvey Barnes has been incredible, but we don't expect Howe would want to keep Gordon on the bench for too long and will bring him back this weekend.

We're actually 50/50 on the Gordon/Barnes call, but to be honest, we just fancied a change to spice things up.

I might just hit the roof this week if Sean Longstaff is brought off the bench ahead of Lewis Miley again, mind. Yeah we get it, shop window and all that, but give the young'un some minutes, eh?
