A right-winger is a priority for Newcastle United in the next couple of transfer windows and while January has been reserved mostly for outgoing transfers, a report has claimed that the Magpies have made a move to recruit this month.
Jacob Murphy's resurgence has come at a brilliant time for Newcastle and Eddie Howe, but we've been here before when an existing player has rediscovered their form heading into a transfer window, taking the pressure off the recruitment team, only for their form to drop off when the window closes.
Newcastle need more depth on the right side of the attack, especially with Miguel Almiron strongly tipped to leave.
The issue is that a winger of the quality we need won't come cheap, but Newcastle seem to have a plan in place.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Newcastle have approached Paris Saint-Germain over winger, Kang-in Lee, with the 23-year-old impressing at PSG this season for Luis Enrique.
Indeed, the South Korea international has managed six goals and two assists from 24 outings this season, 14 of those appearances coming from the bench.
Luis Enrique sees Kang as an important player, but there's a feeling that €40 million (£33 million) could tempt the French giants to part with the forward.
Kang-in Lee can play on the right or through the middle which would give Eddie Howe some options if needed.
A £33 million outlay could be tricky, as we said when it emerged that would be the asking price for Abdukodir Khusanov, but that's media speculation and the reality could be very different.
Newcastle and Manchester United have both reportedly made contact with PSG to ask about his availability which suggests they could be ready to move.
However, it's always worth taking these things with a pinch of salt when the story source if from outside of England. Even more so when it's an Italian site writing about the transfer of a player from the French league to England. It all feels a bit too detached to be credible.
