Newcastle United have been hit with a long-term injury heading into the final stretch of the season.
Trevan Sanusi, the 17-year-old winger who impressed fans with his pre-season showings, drawing comparisons to Allan Saint-Maximin, is now facing the possibility of his season being over already.
The former Birmingham City youngster made his competitive debut for Newcastle in the FA Cup against Bromley but was carrying a knock heading into the fourth-round tie against his old club, with many fans hoping to see his name on the teamsheet.
While his performance against Bromley highlighted the areas of his game that need improvement, most fans were just pleased to see him given a chance in the first team after impressing in the off-season.
Unfortunately, now, Sanusi has taken to Instagram stories to confirm the injury which has kept him out of action for five weeks already is set to keep him out even longer.
“Unfortunate to be out for another eight weeks after being out for five”.
With the U21s season due to end in mid-April and U18s wrapping up in early May, Sanusi may have already played his last game of the season.
We'd hoped that we'd get to see more of Sanusi this season but it seems that fate had other ideas.
Hopefully his rehabilitation goes well and we get to see more of him in pre-season this year as he looks like he could be a very exciting talent with the right guidance.
Speedy recovery, Trevan!
