Newcastle United definitely need to sign a top-class striker in the summer to support Alexander Isak, who is having to shoulder the burden of being Newcastle's main striker alone.

Callum Wilson has just returned from the injury which has kept him out for most of the season, and to be fair to the Magpies' number 9, he found the net in his first start of the campaign.

However, he's not been much use for Isak this season, who has had to start pretty much every game for Eddie Howe's side regardless of fitness due to a lack of other options.

When Isak hasn't been available, Anthony Gordon has stepped into the middle, despite £15 million summer signing Will Osula being on the bench. Therefore, Newcastle definitely need more reinforcements in the summer.

Victor Osimhen has been linked with a move to Newcastle again

Would Victor Osimhen play second fiddle to Alexander Isak? Doubtful

The problem is, we will want an established goal-scorer who can play at the highest level, but convincing a player of that ilk to come and be second-choice behind Isak may be tricky.

That being said, The Chronicle are once again reporting that Newcastle may be offered the chance to sign Victor Osimhen after he returns to Napoli following his loan spell at Galatasaray.

This isn't a new idea, with a similar story surfacing in November last year. It's believed that a fee would be around £60 million which is a snip for a player of Osimhen's reputation. Especially when you consider the story doing the rounds a couple of years ago that the PIF had struck a deal for £82 million to bring him to Newcastle. That obviously turned out to be false.

London media have managed to turn this into an Isak story too

As expected, the London-based media are rubbing their hands together because in their heads, either we get Osimhen and let them buy Isak, or they get Osimhen and no longer need Isak.

So, just out of spite, I hope we keep Isak and sign Osimhen.

If we're being realistic, though, we can see Osimhen going to Chelsea or Arsenal over us if he moves to the Premier League. He's not going to want to compete with Isak and Isak is better.
