Newcastle United are in desperate need of firepower with Callum Wilson's injuries keeping him out of the squad so far this season and only youngster Will Osula to back up Alexander Isak.

On top of the lack of options, there have been intense rumours suggesting that Alexander Isak is getting itchy feet as Newcastle have failed to deliver on the promises outlined when he signed.

That being said, we doubt that anyone was cavalier enough to tell Isak he'd be holding a trophy in three seasons. Plus, the player himself has spoken about being happy at the club.

So a back-up rather than a replacement is what Newcastle will be looking for, although a new report has suggested that The Magpies could be offered one of the best strikers in the game.

Victor Osimhen is back in the picture at Newcastle

Victor Osimhen doesn't fit Antonio Conte's style at Napoli

Newcastle have been admirers of Victor Osimhen for a while and were beaten to the punch by Napoli when the Nigerian left Lille.

There were even rumours at one point that the PIF had launched an £80+ million bid for Osimhen which ultimately turned out to be untrue.

Despite being highly regarded as one of the best strikers in the world, Osimhen has been transfer listed by Napoli since Antonio Conte took over as he doesn't fit the style. Proposed moves to Chelsea or Al-Ahli collapsed in the summer which saw Osimhen head to Galatasaray on loan.

Newcastle could be offered the chance to sign Osimhen next summer

Napoli still have no place for Osimhen so it's expected that he will be shopped out to other clubs in the summer and newcastle are on that list according to The Chronicle.

Despite having a £113 million release clause, it's expected that he will move for a lot less than that, but we expect that whatever the fee ends up being it'll be beyond Newcastle's budget with PSR still a big concern.

Wages would also be a big issue for the Magpies, so we can't see Victor Osimhen at the Toon next year, unless PSR miraculously gets completely scrapped. It's fun to dream though.
