Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Matheus Cunha has been on Newcastle United's radar since before the Brazilian joined Wolves in 2023.

Newcastle were offered the chance to sign Matheus Cunha before he joined Wolves but since his move to the Premier League, Newcastle have kept tabs on the 25-year-old.

Cunha has adapted well to the Premier League and despite Wolves' struggles this season, the versatile forward has managed 10 goals and four assists in 22 Premier League games this season.

That form has brought more attention his way and as a result, Cunha is now stalling on signing a new deal at the Midlands club.

Arsenal signing Cunha could be good news for Newcastle by ending their pursuit of Alexander Isak

Matheus Cunha wants a move to Arsenal

Give Me Sport reports that a, Newcastle, Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United are all keen on Cunha, but the player himself would prefer a move to Arsenal.

Arsenal are in desperate need of a new goal scorer and have been heavily linked with Newcastle's Alexander Isak, but if the Gunners were to prise Cunha away from Wolves this month that should, at least temporarily, shut down all the Isak talk.

Wolves don't want to sell Cunha this month as they feel it will heavily impact their chances of Premier League survival, but Arsena's position is a desperate one and a deal could be struck.

Every player wants to play for Arsenal ... according to Arsenal

Obviously, it would be nice for Newcastle to be in a position to get in the mix for Cunha, but just getting Arsenal off Isak's case for a while would be a welcome bonus.

Arsenal are also reportedly confident that Benjamin Sesko wants a move to them too, because every player wants to play for Arsenal, don't they?

Just hurry up, sign someone, and leave us alone.
