Newcastle United still need someone to regularly back up Alexander Isak with Callum Wilson forever injured and Will Osula seen as a long-term project.

There have been times this season when fans have been frustrated seeing Eddie Howe play midfielders as makeshift strikers, the most recent case being Saturday when Joe Willock was sent up front to replace Alexander Isak, despite a ready-made striker sitting on the bench.

Will Osula is getting the Lewis Hall treatment from Howe, it seems, where he'll spend the majority of his first season on the bench before being bled in during the final games of the campaign. Hopefully, it works as well for Osula as it did for Hall.

In the meantime, though, Callum Wilson has proven he cannot be relied upon if anything were to happen to Isak, so a new striker remains a top transfer priority.

Eintracht Frankfurt are ready to listen to offers for Omar Marmoush

It could be argued that a right-winger is a more pressing need, and we'd agree with that, however, Caught Offside are now reporting that a player on Newcastle's radar has now been slapped with a price tag that is tempting several Premier League clubs including Newcastle.

Omar Marmoush is a versatile forward playing for Eintracht Frankfurt where he's racked up 18 goals and 12 assists in 24 outings this season.

The Egyptian is being watched by Manchester City, Aston Villa, Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle and now that Frankfurt have said they will listen to offers of around €70 million (£54 million) for the 25-year-old in January, things could be about to get interesting.

Can Newcastle find the money to make a move for Omar Marmoush?

If Newcastle are confident that Marmoush could do similar numbers in the Premier League then surely they can find £54 million from somewhere to make it happen.

Manchester City are said to be ahead in the race right now, but Newcastle may still get involved.

We've spoken a lot about Newcastle not being active for incomings in January, but sometimes an opportunity can look too good to pass up, and Omar Marmoush for £54 million feels like one of those opportunities.
