For years now football fans have baulked at the title bestowed upon a certain list of clubs known as the "Big Six" with the "Other 14" determined to break up that cabal.

Sky Sports have been the biggest pushers of this title referring to Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool Manchester City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur who have often been the six clubs occupying the top six places in the Premier League.

However, the past couple of seasons have seen a shake-up to the order with Aston Villa and Newcastle United breaking up the group.

Despite Newcastle finishing seventh last season and Aston Villa stealing fourth, a swap of the previous season, it is Newcastle who have brought change to the branding.

Newcastle United have made it the "Big Seven"

Sky Sports have now rebranded it the "Big Seven" and included Newcastle United in the list. This is likely more to do with the financial power of our backers than anything we've done on the pitch, but it is sure to irk Aston Villa fans and that's fine by us.

However, after years of hating the "Big Six" tag, simply adding another club to it, whether it be our beloved Newcastle or another club, still doesn't sit right.

It suggests that the system is still broken - which it absolutely is, by the way - that a minority of clubs can wield more power than the majority and that's not how things should be.

We're not sure how to feel about this

Don't get us wrong, we've advocated for rule changes that would directly benefit Newcastle United without so much as a thought to other clubs - namely binning PSR and allowing us to spend whatever the hell we want, and if other clubs want to go bankrupt trying to catch up, that's up to them.

What we don't want is to be lumped into that cabal that we've spent so much time and effort rallying against.

Fans of other clubs are going to hate us regardless, we don't need to be handing them ammo like this.

All that being said ... We're in the "Big Seven" so nur!
