MLS side Charlotte FC aren't having a good time of it in Europe at the minute with their efforts to pick up a couple of players failing to yield positive results.

Newcastle United rejected an initial £8 million bid for Miguel Almiron, which is understandable. Newcastle are said to want double that for the Paraguay winger.

Meanwhile, Charlotte were working on another deal for Feyenoord and Netherlands midfielder Calvin Stengs after talks collapsed over an $8 million (£6 million) move.

That deal looks to be dean in the water but there are still reports circulating that Charlotte may try again for Miggy.

Could Miggy move back to the MLS?

There's still time for Charlotte FC to get a deal done for Miggy

Give Me Sport believes that the Almiron deal is not completely dead which would make sense as Miggy would definitely be keen on a return to the MLS should he leave Newcastle.

Whether Charlotte will stump up $16 million (£20 million) that Newcastle are asking for is an entirely different matter, but if they plan to, they have just over 24 hours to do so before the MLS transfer window closes.

The MLS has a strict salary cap and they don't spend a great deal on their transfers either, so it feels like a £20 million move may be well beyond their grasp.

Miggy can stay but we need to bring in someone better

After Eddie Howe told Miggy he wanted him to stay after the 30-year-old refused to move to the Saudi Pro League in January and again this summer, it's looking increasingly like we're going to be stuck with him.

We have no problem with that as long as he's relegated to third choice behind Jacob Murphy and a new top-class winger that we sign before this window closes.

The club aren't likely to go for that though as exits from the Newcastle squad have been very light and the wage budget, as a result, is not reducing. We need to get this cluster of players linked with moves away gathered up and sent to new clubs.
