Newcastle United's Under 18's look set for a bit of a shakeup this summer as coach Graeme Carrick looks to be on his way out of the club.

Middlesbrough have received permission to hold talks with Newcastle's U18s coach Graeme Carrick over making the move to Teesside to link up with his brother, Michael Carrick who is currently boss of the Smoggies.

It's believed that Carrick would be heading to Middlesbrough as a first-team coach to replace Aaron Danks who looks to be heading to Bayern Munich to work with Vincent Kompany.

If all goes well, and given that his brother will be the one making the decisions it's very likely to, Graeme Carrick will work alongside former Newcastle defender Jonathan Woodgate who is also on the coaching staff at 'Boro.

Michael Carrick wants his younger brother Graeme to join him at Middlesbrough

Graeme and Michael Carrick were products of the Wallsend Boys Club

The move would leave Newcastle with an appointment of their own to make whether it be internal or external, the Magpies will need to find somebody to work under Steve Harper as coach of the U18s.

According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle have said that should Carrick leave they will look to fill the vacancy ASAP.

Both Graeme and Michael Carrick were products of the Wallsend Boys Club and both went on learn their trade at West Ham but where Michael's career took off, younger brother Graeme found himself going down the coaching route working for the FA for 15 years as a coach developer before joining the Magpies.

Newcastle will act fast to replace Graeme Carrick should he leave

Two years on and it looks like Carrick is on the move again.

Newcastle United will now place Graeme Carrick on gardening leave while they negotiate a £15million release fee with Middlesbrough ... no they won't, at all, I just made that up.

Best of luck to Graeme in his new role should it all go ahead, which really, we can't see any reason it won't.
