Nobody is underestimating the size of the task that faces Newcastle United on Sunday, but there have been a few former players and pundits backing the Magpies lately and after seeing PSG harass Liverpool with a strong press, the cracks in the Reds' armour are showing.

Liverpool don't seem to know how to react when being relentlessly pressed and if so many every day fans have noticed this, you could be damn sure Eddie Howe has too, so we will expect the Mags to just go at Liverpool from the off on Sunday in the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

Newcastle have nothing to lose, so why not just go on the front foot. Let's end this pattern of showing too much respect to the 'bigger clubs', it's time we showed them we aren't afraid.

Ryan Taylor sees Sandro Tonali as the man to lead Newcastle to glory

Former Newcastle player Ryan Taylor has identified Sandro Tonali as one of those key men, telling Radio Newcastle that he doesn't see Tonali as the type of player to freeze for the big occasion.

“On the player front, I think signings like Sandro and one or two other players have not half brought the team on.

“He’s my favourite player. He could run the game at Wembley.

“I don’t think someone like him would freeze. We’ve got that experience being there and know what it’s all about. We’re going there now, and we are in a better place than what we were two years ago.”
